Botany for Maturing Plant Lovers- May

In this hands-on class, we will explore the wonder of plants and the nourishing properties tucked in them. Each week we will study the plant of the week, building a scientific journal of plants, a resource students can use to identify these plants, their plant families and characteristics, the habitat in which they thrive, the systems of the body they have been clinically shown to influence, and record the chemical constituents that make them nutritious. Students will develop their powers of observation by creating botanical drawings that reflect the plants' root, leaf, and flower structure and will categorize, compare and contrast different plants, sharpening their analytical skills, building their vocabulary, and  developing their ability to synthesize information and articulate their observations through writing.
